Eating insects is considered disgusting or even primitive in Western societies but elsewhere, 2 billion people eat insects on a regular basis. According to a report released recently by the United Kingdom, the benefits of eating insects as food is so great that it is high time we convert the other 5 billion people.

A good reason for eating insects is that it could be the solution to world hunger. There are forty tons of insects to every human. That's more than enough for an ongoing '' all you can eat '' insect buffet. For example, for Africa, a continent that has this problem, by eating insects could resolve it and save many lives.

In addition, most of the insects are naturally sustainable. Mealworms for example, survive on waste wheat chaff rather than guzzling grain like our favourite meat sources. All summed up insects will resolve a lot of problems. Then insects are very easy to farm on a large scale without damaging the environment. They even provide us unusual flavours and textures.
Insects will even benefit our body because they are highly nutritious. Caterpillars, for example, provide more protein and more iron than the same quantity of minced beef. In fact many other countries are eating insects. Cambodians eat tarantulas and in Thailand they eat deep fried crickets. There are over 1,000 varieties of insects edible to humans. Surely there's something for everyone.

In the end, I think that we should all start to eat insects, because we could totally change our lives in a positive manner. A good thing is that some restaurants started promoting this idea. In Naples recently, a shop that sells insects opened near to my house. I hope that this idea of eating insects will spread throughout the world so that we could improve our lives.

I kind of agree with you, but I still find it disgusting to eat insects. Insects are in fact more benefical than meat. I think that eating insects can save people fighting against hunger. This topic has been promoted for years but most of the world does not want to eat insects because they are used to eating meat. You did a great job mate, well done!
RispondiEliminaThe reason i agree with this blog is because i think that the new generation of eating insect will soon come out. The reason why i disagree with this blog is because i think that eating insect is really disgusting but apart of this i think that if we eat insect we would have a lot of problem like getting an infection or maybe get a disease. Even do i disagree about something that is written in this blog i really enjoyed reading it. it was really interesting and thoughtful. thank you that you spent time on writing this blog that would make a lot of people think about it.
RispondiEliminaI found his blog really interesting and surprising. Knowing that we have such an easy soultion to world hunger and other problems surely makes you feel hopeful. It is amazing to know that such tiny creatures can give us as much, or even more, than way bigger ones. I do agree with your idea that eating insects would be a huge "step forward" (even if some countries already do so) for the human kind, since it would solve many issues that are currently threatening us in many different ways. The problem is, as you said in your blog, that many people consider a diet based on insects as somethig primitive. I think people should be taught that this is wrong, and should learn all the advantages of eating insects. Another drawback is that many people regard it as something grose or disgusting, which is something I quite agree with. I mean, to be honest, the texture of insects is something that's not very nice. But despite this, I find that this blog is right and that we should all at least try to eat insects and, by doing it, help the Earth.
